Couple of nice hookups with Icelandic music site Gogoyoko this week. For starters, Rough Fields got a nice feature in their Best New Songs playlist. Maria Minerva needs little introduction since her album Cabaret Cixous emerged on Not Not Fun last year. Her hazy, psychedelic, lo-fi slo-mo discotronica has swayed support from every corner of the hyposphere, and her recent forays on NNF’s dancefloor-addicted little sister 100% Silk have only pushed things further. Here’s a rare chance to hear her record collection…

Red Rack’em is pretty much a house and disco institution nowadays. From his rework of “Stand on the Word” for Tirk back in 2008 to his unfailingly heavy “Smuggler’s Inn” podcasts and releases as Hot Coins, Mr Berman’s club pedigree is clear. Since he moved to Berlin and set up his Bergerac label (which fired out some of the heaviest 4/4 jams last year) he’s been in painfully short supply in the UK. We’re gonna fix that right up by flying the man himself over to blighty for one night only (2 hr set).

Mr Beatnick‘s heritage lies in hip hop – his work for Altered Vibes is case in point, particularly “I Know All the Bitches”, a stunner of track featuring Ahu which grew wings when Alex Nut included it on his Rinse mix. Recently, Beatnick’s bright moments have been more dancefloor-centric; his tracks on the Don’t Be Afraid label are pure futuristic bass with a vintage house feel.

Rough Fields debut album is out on March 26th, following a highly acclaimed string of experimental EP’s last year culminating in features in Clash Mag (“Ones To Watch 2012″) and Gilles Peterson’s “Winners” 2011. Don’t let the atmospherics in his tunes fool you – there’s some serious bass and a keen understanding of dancefloor mechanics in there. Check this Rough Fields Samurai FM mix at for an idea of how this DJ set will shape up.

So on Thursday the 5th April, when you leave work and realise that you don’t have to go to work until Tuesday, it’s still light (the clocks have gone forward) and you’ve a strange thirst for ale, what are you going to do? We know what you’re going to do. We know exactly what you’re going to do.

You’re going to head directly to The Windmill in Brixton, where we’re holding the Rough Fields album launch with a live set from Rough Fields (their first ever gig!) plus very special guests Hong Kong in the 60s and Fierce County. And that’s before we even get into how much fun it’s going to be staying out late (at least 2) listening to guest DJs Ben Smith (Proper Songs), James Small (Space Invader Radio) and Ben Morris (Kudos).

So you can now get “Sterling Heights” from Juno Download. It’s a huge slice of warped, bass-heavy, broken electronica from Tandy Ramraid – a brand reserved especially for the darkest, most 2AM-centric cuts exiting the Bomb Shop studios.

We’re delighted to announce that Rough Fields has been featured in the estimable Clash Magazine‘s list of “Ones to watch” for 2012. What does this mean? Well, it means Clash have their heads screwed on right, for a start. With the Rough Fields album due for release in March, things are looking rosy.

In addition to the big-up, Clash have included Rough Fields’ track “The Harbour Wall” on their Cross Section download album, which you can grab absolutely free here.

Rough Fields appeared on Dom Servini’s Unheard Radio show on Monday for a chat about past, present and future projects, a mini DJ mix and an extended loops-out-of-control solo live performance of “Behave”, from the Harbour Wall EP.

Noise-folk duo Ambrosia(@) have emerged from the studio (or wherever it is they go to make this stuff) with a brand new three track EP named “Hysteria Siberiana”. Fans of the last release, “Cordially Yours”, will be pleased to hear that the new tape develops the harmonic noise aspects of the previous burst, with great results.

The three tracker is set for release on the 28th November on chrome cassette, in an evidence bag, each copy complete with a 100% original Sarah Faraday polaroid.

Foxy Digitalis is the webzine founded by Brad and Eden Rose on the back of the really quite seminal Digitalis label. The imprint has ponied up some remarkable music over the last almost-decade, including work by Lawrence English, Dylan Ettinger and Motion Sickness of Time Travel amongst many, many others.

So yeah, thay’ve got a webzine, and on that webzine they’ve got a writer chap called Steve Dewhurst who, it transpires, is a top drawer gent. Here’s a Bomb Shop label feature he put together:

In the run up to the release of “The Harbour Wall” this month, US online mag The 405 held a rather nice interview with Rough Fields. Influences, drinking, mild schizophrenia, the problems of live loops, rural yearnings and making sense – it’s all in there. There’s an exclusive stream of the lead track from the EP, too. Which is nice.
